ACI’s Students Proudly Volunteer for Taste of the NFL XLIX – the Super Bowl Party with a Purpose, Raising Awareness & Dollars for Hunger Relief
Culinary-related terms like gridiron, pigskin, and of course, a sack lunch take on new meaning when Arizona Culinary Institute’s students volunteer for Taste of the NFL XLIX. “The Super Bowl Party with a Purpose,” held at Westworld of Scottsdale on Saturday, January 31, raises awareness and dollars for hunger relief. A large portion of the proceeds from this officially sanctioned NFL event (25%) will be distributed to hunger relief organizations here in Arizona through St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
Over 2,500 people are expected to attend this food and wine tasting extravaganza hosted by celebrity spokesperson Alyssa Milano, and featuring a performance by the acclaimed band, Little Big Town. Even at $700 per ticket, the event is always a sellout, continually ranked as one of the top parties at the Super Bowl by USA Today.
“We are very proud of our student chefs who will be volunteering for this great cause,” notes Arizona Culinary Institute’s Placement Director, Chef Glenn Humphrey. “This is such a great learning and networking experience where you work hard, and have fun, something ACI believes in.”
In the past 23 years, over $22 million has been donated by the Taste of the NFL to hunger relief organizations across the U.S. through the Feeding America Food Bank System. These funds have created over 170 million new meals for families in need.
