Hello! I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very happy holiday season. If you have any time off work for whatever holiday you choose to celebrate, I hope you can spend it with people that you care about. However, I also recognize that the service industry requires many of you to work more than usual during the holiday season, and often on the holiDAYS themselves.
If you find yourself in that position, please know that you are appreciated. Any of us who have spent any significant time in the industry have been in that position at one point or another, and it’s tough. I hope your bosses/supervisors/managers thank you and make you feel appreciated, but if they don’t, at least I’m telling you that you’re appreciated. Now, that may not mean a whole lot, but it’s sincere, and it’s something, and I mean it.
This is probably gonna sound kinda dumb to some of you, but I remember living in a small apartment during the holidays and having to work all of them, but I would always take the time to set up a little lighted Christmas tree in my room, and for the whole season I would fall asleep watching TV with my mini tree lights on, and it would at least make me feel a little more at home. If you find yourself working a ton during the holidays, I hope you can find techniques to help you bring joy to your busy world.
And, I wanted to say congratulations to all of the recent graduates from the graduation we just celebrated on December 1st. We wouldn’t have a school without you, so thank you for joining us and allowing us to play a role in your culinary future. Happy Holidays everyone! See you in 2024.
