Position Overview
This is a hands-on, cross-trained role. You will be trained to assist with sushi preparation, line cooking, wok cooking, and front register/customer service. Prior experience is encouraged; however, we are happy to train the right person with a strong work ethic and good attitude.
Responsibilities
- Assist with sushi prep and basic sushi rolling
- Work the line and the wok station, preparing menu items according to standards
- Operate the cash register, take orders, and handle payments accurately
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards (kitchen and front of house)
- Prep ingredients, stock stations, and assist with opening/closing duties
- Work as a team in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Dependable, punctual, and responsible
- Ability to multitask and switch between stations
- Comfortable standing for long periods and working in a kitchen environment
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Food handler’s card (or willingness to obtain one)
- Interest in Japanese cuisine or sushi
- Ability to problem solve and work independently in a changing and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to respond to stressful situations in professional and productive ways.
