Instructor Profile 2021

Hello Fellow Culinarian Lovers! I am Chef Janet Walter, an instructor at Arizona Culinary Institute. I have been in the restaurant business all of my life. Whether I worked, managed, or owned, my passion and love for the industry wouldn’t let me do anything else. I am a 2003 graduate of ACI. I feel this initial step so long ago helped lay the foundation for my career.

After years of owning my own restaurant and managing employees, it became important to me to make an impact on up and coming culinarians. I want to be able to share some of the easy, hard, fun, or even expensive lessons I’ve learned along the way.

One of the first lessons is about knowing your own personal recipe for success. To be successful in this industry you need to be tough. Tough on your standards: work ethic, determination, mental and physical stamina, communication, teamwork, and oh yes, passion. Your standards drive you to be the best that you can and the passion is what helps get you through those long work days. Every day, strive to be all that you can be, feed off the pleasure of sharing our craft with others. If I could give a quick piece of advice I’d say “don’t sweat the small stuff, sweat the shallots and the garlic”
